Jakarta Metaverse was a pioneering digital movement and melting pot for Jakarta’s creative economy players. Held online from 27–29 August 2021, the event was organized by Komite Ekraf Jakarta (KE JKT) under the theme “The New Age of Creative Economy”.
The forum aimed to foster a new digital creative economy ecosystem through adaptation, innovation, and cross-sector collaboration. It successfully attracted more than 2,350 creative economy participants, featuring 95 speakers across 27 panel discussions on two virtual stages over three days.
One of the event’s flagship programs was the Jakarta Metaverse NFT Gallery (JMNG) — a virtual gallery showcasing digital works in the form of NFTs. The gallery featured collaborations with renowned creators and institutions, including filmmaker Wregas Bhanuteja, Bumilangit Entertainment, and Mice Cartoon. Beyond being an exhibition, JMNG enabled NFT purchases, with a portion of proceeds donated to communities affected by the pandemic.
Jakarta Metaverse marked the first major initiative by Komite Ekraf Jakarta, positioning itself as a strategic partner and collaborative platform for innovation in Jakarta’s creative industries. It laid the foundation for KE JKT’s role in shaping Jakarta’s creative economy as it transitions into the digital age.
